Progression: XP, levels and level-up choices
Every duel moves your fighter forward. Every level asks you a question: which upgrade do you want?
Experience
- A victory gives 60 XP and a defeat gives 25 XP.
- The first win of the day for each fighter adds a flat 40 XP bonus.
- Fighters recruited after you retire veterans to the Hall of Fame get a capped XP bonus on top.
The XP needed for the next level is 100 + 40 per level already reached, up to a ceiling of 900 XP per level from level 21 onwards. The maximum level is 50.
Each fighter can fight 10 times a day and then rests until local midnight; see how to play.
The level-up choice
When a fighter levels up, the game offers two upgrades and you take one. You must resolve pending level-ups before the next fight.
- Option A is always +3 to a random stat.
- Option B is either a perk or +3 to a different stat. A perk is a weapon, a skill or a pet, drawn by rarity: about 45% weapons, 40% skills and 15% pets.
You are never offered a weapon or skill you already own, pet slots are respected, and the school limit (primary plus two secondary) applies. The offers are fixed by the fighter's seed and level, so closing the app does not change them.
Caps
A fighter holds at most 4 weapons, 8 skills (signature included) and 3 pets (2 small and 1 large). Once a category is full, an offer of that kind becomes +3 to a stat instead, and the level-up screen says so. Balance tests found that hoarding every perk was a trap, so the caps keep fighters focused.
When an Epic or Legendary weapon shows up in an offer, it gets a full-screen reveal with an animation and sound. See weapons.
