Recruit your first fighter
The first choice you make is the fighter you will grow for weeks. This is how recruiting works.
Step by step
- Open the roster and tap an empty slot.
- Choose a fighter type and type a name.
- The game rolls the fighter: stats, a primary martial-arts school and one random starting perk (a weapon, a skill or a pet).
- Not happy? Re-roll. You get 5 free re-rolls per recruit. Changing the fighter type keeps your roll and is free.
- Confirm, and the fighter takes a free roster slot.
Leaving the screen resumes the same candidate, so you cannot lose a good roll by accident. The roll is made by the server, so recruiting needs a connection; offline you will see a retry button.
What the roll gives you
Every fighter starts with 2 points in each of strength, agility, speed and endurance, plus its type's small starting bonus and 12 extra points spread according to the type's habits. Read the stats guide for what each stat does.
The primary school gives the fighter its signature passive skill, and it is weighted towards the schools each type favours. See schools and skills. The starting perk is your first piece of kit; you will add more at every level-up.
Which type should you pick?
There is no wrong answer, because all six types are balanced to win roughly half of their fights against rivals of their level. Pick the one you like to look at, or the playstyle you prefer:
- Tough and steady: Knight and Sumo Wrestler put most points into endurance and strength.
- All-rounder: Boxer spreads points evenly.
- Fast and slippery: Capoeirista and Ninja lean on speed and agility.
- Hard hitter: Karateka leans on strength and speed.
Compare them all in the fighters overview.
Roster slots
You start with room for three fighters, and more slots can be unlocked up to five. Every fighter keeps its own level, perks and record. Retiring a fighter frees the slot; from level 30, a fighter can retire to the Hall of Fame instead of being deleted.
